The career prospects for UX researchers at Microsoft are actually really good if you’re interested in leadership. Many of the leaders of large UX groups there come from the research side.

Yes they do... however it depends on the project.
Could u specify which teams or projects ??
I know a friend in WDG that does UX research and they do qualitative analysis almost exclusively.
