Joining VMware next week. This is for the Palo Alto campus. Do people use scoop at VMware? I live in San Jose. With scoop my commute woes might be reduced. Any tips from San Jose employees of VMware?
We get $5 SRP discount on Scoop, works out really well.
85/280 with HOV lane takes 35 min
Evergreen is San Jose ; so is Almaden ; so is 85 and Saratoga. 😐
My advice over the years - either leave before 7 or after 9. Have consistently had a roughly 30 minute commute my entire time from North San Jose taking 880 -> 280. Just get a good podcast or audiobook and it’s no big deal. Afternoons are what really suck :( 5:00 is pretty much a guaranteed 1.5 hour commute. The only fast commute I’ve seen in afternoon is after 7, so for a long time I used to work 10-7 so my commute was only 1 hour round trip. Good luck at VMware, it’s an awesome company!!
Thank you so much. This is exactly what I planned. Look forward to joining the company :) started shortlisting a few podcasts :)
I joined last month and commute from South SJ. I catch a 7:20am express VTA bus at a light rail station that’s 5 mins from my house. Takes 1 hr 10 mins so I just listen to a podcast or audiobook. Saves me a lot of gas $ and stress. When I do drive in, I leave at 10am and get there in about 35 mins. I love being at VMware so far, and hope you find the same. Best of luck!
That’s nice to hear :) excited to join VMware!
I lived in N. SJ, by Levi’s. The commute to vmware on 237 was brutal. Sometimes 45-60 min when it should take 25. I now live in Redwood City, much better via 280
280 all the way or 280 and foothill express way would be good choice... depends on time of the day as well... Btw, which group in Vmware?
NSBU. Nsx
All the best. A little encouragement from CEO himself to join NSX. https://www.sdxcentral.com/articles/news/vmwares-future-is-networking-ceo-pat-gelsinger-says/2018/06/?utm_source=SDxCentral.com+Mailing+List&utm_campaign=1540f82c15-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2018_06_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_c2b6e504a2-1540f82c15-81862829
