I am negotiating an offer from Visa for a senior director, Product position. The job is based out of Foster City. I was told that I would be eligible for year end RSUs. The recruiter did not tell the exact number but mentioned that I can expect year end RSU grant to be worth equal to the year end bonus - ~25% of the base. From the posts, it seems that year end RSU grant is very low at Visa. Can anyone provide more color? Thank you for your help!
Any folks from Visa who can provide some insight?
Probably not gonna be 25% unless you already have an important sounding title at a respectable company (in Visa's case it's usually an investment bank/bank)
25% of base on paper is approx 40-50% in actual of base. Not bad if u negotiate a good base.
Are you talking about bonus or RSUs? How is Visa in giving RSUs?
This % applies to both, in my experience. I have also seen some ppl deprived of RSUs, so its all subjective to how you perform. Over the years things have certainly improved, but their 401k is down to 200% and they took away retirement pay 3 years back
What is your profile and how much is your base?
It seems the RSU grant varies a lot by group. My friend in finance never gets it and he is a director.
Ouch!
I will be in the product organization. Does anyone know the yearly RSU grant at senior director level in the product organization.
Answering for posterity: For Senior Director (SD) level the RSU refresh guidelines are 1) 75% of SDs should get RSU refresh 2) For SDs who get RSU refresh the target is 30% of base salary.
What is your offer - base, rsu, bonus %?
25% of base for RSU is low. Note that RSU is vested over a long period of time (like 4 years) and it may have 1 year cliff as well (you get nothing until the end of the first year since granted). I don’t know much about Visa but if it follows the normal convention, you may expect 6.25% of your base in RSU after 2 years of working over there. It’s not that much though.
I heard that they do not even give 25%!
