Does anyone have experience with the WWOPS team at Amazon? I’m applying for that team soon, but want to make sure it’s an actual good team without any BS before I spend the effort going through interviews.
It is the worst org at Amazon.
Did you end up interviewing? If so what are your thoughts? Recruiter from wwops reached out and scheduled me for an on-site however I am not entirely ready to leave NYC and don't want to move forward if the team itself wouldn't be good to work on
I worked in Ops for 2 years. I learned a lot about what to do right - especially since a few of the sister teams I worked with did things wrong (bad OE, deployment practices, etc). It set me up for success when I left them and helped found my own greenfield team. If you can endure it for a year or two working in Ops can give you lessons learned that will stay with you for life and put your career on the right trajectory.
WWOPS is a large org. WhT team within that or at least what role/function. Also what location? Ops is intense
The recruiter didn’t really give too much information other than working with machine learning, lots of math, big data, data scientists, and a very big development team. The recruiter says there are a ton of roles open in that space so a lot of different opportunities.
I don’t have a good feeling about this although teams vary. Ops is overall intense and has worse culture compared to CS, Devices, Retail and AWS. Did recruiter tell you what product/program you will be working on. It will be an internal product for sure. PM with more info if you don’t want to post more details here
