Want to work at WINDSTREAM?

I’ve been a top performer at Windstream for a very long time. Serial elite trip winner. 10+ years in enterprise sales. I have seriously seen about 75 sales reps rotate in and then out the door 1 to 2 years later. My fire has been extinguished. I have no excitement anymore to work here. We are in chapter 11 and the micromanagement is insane. We are stuck with whoever the latest manager is who will rotate out in 3 years like the rest do. I don’t believe the grass is any greener at att, Verizon, or Comcast but I am here to tell you I have killed it and I am this unhappy. I may be different than most of you, I’m making up to 300k but looking for a career to feel good about even if it means less money. Life is too short to stress out counting dollars. Any of us could die in some random event tomorrow and guess what? We will be replaced in 2 weeks and forgotten in 2 months by coworkers. I need something that makes a difference. We aren’t saving babies with SDWAN guys. Telecom is so saturated with competition and infested with back wash it’s insane.

Well that was a helpful post. I make up to 300k in base plus commission and all of it I have earned. No, Windstream is restructuring debt and will exit much stronger than pre petition. Tell that to common stock holders or long time employees though.

Take my word for it, as much as ours friends at att, verizon, and Comcast want to believe WINDSTREAM is in trouble, we aren’t. If you do your homework you will see that. We will arise in much better shape and we are making money. That’s isn’t the issue but our competitors, as we expect, will plant seeds of doubt. The issue is the stress level being applied is insane and unsustainable. It’s not fun or healthy to work here period. It’s a morgue, no real innovation or culture.

Windstream isn’t in bad shape because practically nothing is at risk if they lose it all. Their outside plant is majority CLEC (reselling of AT&T, Verizon, Frontier, Fairpoint).

Windstream has a very small last-mile network of what remains of legacy Alltel wireline plant, that’s it. Everything else is managed services and Metro-E.

Hell yes go to AT&T and sell FirstNet. Every single state has signed up for it. It’s guaranteed $$$ lol.

I hate it here now. It’s micromanagement and high stress regardless of where you are year to date. No shit, you can be 200% to plan for the year in July and the ask is why do you have nothing committed for September yet!? I can’t wait to get out and it will not be to another telco company. And this post comes from someone very tenured and a multiple presidents club winner. Tenure just means they expect more of you and refuse to provide cost of living increases.

Worked there ~2.5 years, I was part of a firing wave they decided to retroactively look up each time people signed into their phones one minute after your shift start and back-tally occurrences.

I was in my mid-20’s and was 3rd highest in seniority in a group of 30 employees.
