I got a weird offer from Google. It has a lot of stocks first year, but very little 4th year. TC by years is 461, 382, 335, 289k. Level is L5. If I sum it and divide by four it's 366k which isn't that exciting comparing to my current 350k TC. What's the point of this schedule? Do they try to squeeze low-performers that way? I like Google, but I honestly don't have mental stamina for performance ratings rat-racing and feel like it would be easier just to Leetcode whole year and then move to Fb or something. I would love to stay in G for long-term, but afraid of complications of such offer. Did anybody have such offer and already year or so in? How was the refreshers?
If someone tells me they would give me x, x-1, x-2,... 2, 1 amount vs 1, 2, 3,...x-1, x ... What do you think floats my boat? Also Google offers generous Refreshers to high performers
Lot of people leave after 4 years because of the cliff. Looks like they are planning to ensure your comp rises slightly each year with 0 cliff. With refreshers, it will keep increasing. This is a good strategy in my opinion.

It won't drop. 2nd year you will get a refresher. 3rd year you will have 2 refreshers. Refreshers at G start vesting immediately.

No, sign-on is separate and just 10k.

This is totally unheard of. Like totally bizarre offer. Not sure what they are trying to pull off here
I also had an L7 offer with 40/28/20/12 vesting. I think it's done to get you to a higher year 1 TC without giving a signing bonus or increasing 4 year comp.
I have a similar L4 offer. They give me more stock year 1 so that they can beat my compete offer (but only in the first year). I expressed my concern to my recruiter and she said "no worries you will get promoted soon" lol

What size refreshers usually are? The thing is I hate looking for job :( I'm pretty bad at leetcode.
