Wells Fargo AI Group SF

I was recently contacted to take a role as a project manager for this group and wondered what it’s like working there? the position has remote days time but I will be in the office too so I want to know what the dynamic is like. this is a contract position which seems to be the case for all of the workers in this org. Any thoughts or insight would be appreciated.

Why don’t you talk to the people in the group and see how you get along with them. Ask to speak with a few engineers. I think their AI group needs more talented leaders having worked with a few in the past. However, they’ve been working to bringing in new leadership in the past year. What happened at wells is bad management and bad controls, yes. However, that doesn’t reflect all the other good people trying to do their job at the company as a whole. Contract work in this case feels flimsy. The bank should make bigger bets and recruit people with skin in the game. Spin out a company if there too much bs.

That’s an interesting view point.

OP don’t consider people who are not even working in Wellsfargo. From outsiders wells feels like management is changing but the reality is wells is 25 years behind in latest technologies. There are technology managers who doesn’t understand or adapt to latest technologies. If you really care about your career then you know wells is not good choice. Good Luck!

Thanks for saying so. I’m glad I posted and received such thoughtful advice. Unanimous across the board. Hard pass.

PMs change projects more than any other job I have seen, contract or not. Nor is your time guaranteed. Go in eyes wide open and get as much money out of them as you can ... you are a contractor, not an employee. Completely different set of rules.
