I constantly see mention of Lsomething or other when discussing compensation at Facebook. Is there some sort of guide to all this? I’m new to ‘big tech’ lingo and benefits. I have 12 years of marketing experience in multiple industries (govt, agencies, nonprofits) where you’re really only offered salary + health. Nothing else. Trying to figure out how to enter compensation conversations in my interview rounds.
This helped me a lot: https://www.levels.fyi/
Doesn’t seem right to me. At least for product mgr. a VP at Amazon is mapped to Director at FB? No chance. VP at Amazon could prob be GM or CEO at most places. They would not go to FB to be a Director. I know title doesn’t mean a whole lot but this seems off.
I think it's crowd-sourced. See if you can flag / update...
L is basically GS. They don’t map 1:1, levels.fyi has a better map.
Salary is pretty much 100k to 200k across the board, most compensation increase is in stock grants. College grads (E3) get about 25k a year stock and each subsequent level increase about doubles that. 50k for E4, 100k for E5, etc...
Thank you. That’s helpful to know! Entering these conversations, being asked expectations, unsure how to answer.
You don't do comp conversation during the interviews but after you are selected by the hiring committee.
Ok let’s say I’m optimistic and want a helpful head start. I’m being asked to discuss compensation now after my onsite.
