I see many with 3-4 yrs exp having that title. What are their responsibilities, pay range?
Typically ~3-5 years experience, just a title but nothing special. VP is next level and most first level managers will be VP. Starts to really mean something when you hit Executive Director.
And believe me, they spare no possible combination of titles. AVP, VP, SVP, EVP, SEVP...
At BofA it is senior developer or software engineer
In banking, Vice President is a pretty low title. I think it’s for sales reasons. So customers feel special talking to a VP about a loan or account. But there’s tons of them
This was in the context of a developer starting as software engineer or analyst and then at the end of 3-4 yrs at bofa promoted to asst. vp .. so i dont think this is sales related but what you said makes sense .. thx for the info!
My understanding is certain actions at a bank have to be done by a VP. More a legal/regulatory requirement than a sales one.
That is very much a banking type of culture. Very top heavy with assistant vps and vps. It is very meaningless
True, it’s meaningless. The thing with large companies like BofA is that they have many employees that are hourly, part time, etc. the full time ones with a few years of exp are automatically given a vp title, that’s just how they separate full time vs part time/hourly employees. But yea definitely don’t get excited about the title
Cool, thx for sharing!
Entry level positions that work the phones in a call center
Seriously? Title sounds prestigious though .. am asking about someone with tech background not call center related
They hand that shit out like candy. It's meaningless.
