Working remotely and have no reason to live in the BA anymore so thinking about moving to Corona or Temecula. Both have good schools, relatively close to LA and Irvine (in case I would need to find another dev job), affordable housing, pretty good weather and beaches 30 mins away. Any downside?
Move to East part of greater Sacramento area before it is fully packed with BA peeps, very close to Tahoe and 2 hours away from Bay area and schools area great,l.
How's tech in Sacramento, are there enough dev jobs? One of the reasons why I consider Corona is to live close to the good tech job market
There are some tech companies like intel but i cant say it is great atm. As an alternative, there are lots of goverment tech jobs and some if those jobs are paying pretty good
Beaches are more than 30 mins away. Bit¢hes on the other hand. 🤷♂️
Traffic goes west in morning, east at end of workday. It would literally take two hours to drive from corona to Irvine if you commute (one way, so 4 hours in traffic every day) Corona is an old city. Temecula has one way in and out (the 15) and there is a fuckload of traffic you will sit in everyday. In short, traffic. There is a reason why everyone here uses time instead of distance to describe how far something is. Corona->LA: 1.5 hours if you're lucky, 3 hours if there is an accident or rain
Hear the meth is great and summers are like Arizona. If you want to commute to LA buy an R44: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robinson_R44 It should wash out in the price you pay for housing.
Why not big bear? The views are better than riverside
@here ok, so seems like Corona/Temecula is not a good option if you consider commute to LA in the future. Then what would be a better option? Santa Clarita?
Santa Clarita has weird dietary restrictions 🤓
Santa Clarita also has Arizona heat with added risk of wild fires. Commuting also sucks and can be 1.5 hours if you hit it wrong.
30 minutes to the beach? LOL Seriously, commuting to any decent paying job is going to be hell from anywhere in the Inland Empire to LA or Orange County.
I was thinking of moving to Temecula as well. But I’m looking for full wfh. If I have to go into the office I’m fortunate enough to have a friend I can crash at in la.
OP, did you end up buying in Riverside county?
Might as well move to Las Vegas and pay no state tax. You’d probably need to move to la or Irvine if you got a job there and the beach is probably more like 2 hours away.
I saw there is a train goes from Corona to LA and Irvine, do you think it's not good idea to commute?
I don’t know about the train to irvine, but taking the train to dtla then the metro to west la sounds like a nightmare (assuming west la). If I knew I’d be remote long term I’d 100% choose lv over riverside even though I have family in Southern California.
