How does the process go at hiring committee in companies like Google, Apple, Facebook, Amazon... How many people make the decision? How much time do they spend for each candidate? What do they look for(do they check online presence)?
They roll the dice.
No hiring committee in Amazon. It's just the interviewers who discuss the performance during the interview and make a hire or no-hire call so about 5-6 people make the decision on one candidate. Mostly it happens for 1/2 hour and I haven't seen anyone caring about the online presence.
From my experience, we need to write up a review as detailed as possible right after the interview. Most people even add the code you wrote on the board, like the photos they take at the end of the interview etc. The recruiter schedules a review meeting for the same or next day based on the availabilities of the interviewers. They all sit and discuss from 30-60 mins based on how straightforward the decision is. There is a bar raiser among one of the interviewers and usually their decision is important the hiring manager. I have seen people getting hired to other teams or leveled down even when the hiring manager said No but the bar raiser said yes.
Yeah, they read your tweets and fb posts. Make sure you post funny ones, so they can have a good laugh. They basically have too much time on their hands and ditch about you for 1-2 hrs. Why?
“Ditch”?
OP has a very genuine question .. could you pls answer it
