What happens with your bonus when you leave Microsoft between July 1st and September 15
Or whatever date when you actually get your rewards meeting with your manager Will you just get a check in the mail? It gets directly deposited? Do you get an email or something letting you know about it? I understand that bonus will be lower because management will try to put you at the bottom. However, how bad? Can it be zero? Anyone had experience with this?
I left MSFT in early August and got the full bonus, via check I believe. The bonus is for work from the previous fiscal year so it should make no difference as long as the fiscal year is over.
August is late enough that rewards are locked. July 1st is not.
I think July 1 is the deadline to get your bonus. I left on July 14 and got the full bonus.
If you leave July 1st you are eligible, but there is a risk that management will give you 0 so that they can use the budget for people who is staying. If you leave after reviews are locked on M2 level, usually by end of July, you will get your bonuses. I would leave after August 1st just to be safe.
I'd push it to August 15th to be super safe.
I would just stay here forever to be super duper safe. Wait...

Theoretically you get full bonus after July 1st..practically I have seen managers not being principled about this.. Agree that around August 15th and the system is locked and you are safe and will get check in mail..
I just waited till September 15 to tell my manager
It is often zero in this situation.
