Imagine the pain that would be inflicted if people had to prepare their own food and do dishes.

I really wish that companies would stop this whole perk and RSU bullshit and would just pay decent base with decent raises every year. Usually I know best how to deal with my money. I don't want free meals etc. Pay me 2k more per month instead. I don't want RSUs, pay me 60k more per year.

Thank you very much for listening and liking. Amen.

RSUs give you leverage. When you work for a growing company and the stock value doubles....

    • @yvrzonian You should join a company like Netflix which pays you more base instead of RSUs.

We don’t have any meals at all. Even snacks and coffee are restocked very rarely. They shut our cafeteria down a long time. I’ve been eating out or cooking my own food to bring to lunch for years. You don’t know what pain is.

People barely work more than 2-4 hours per day productively anyways. There's been research in Scandinavia that concludes that 20 hr weeks could lead to similar productivity. Most of the work force spends 50-70 % at the workplace unproductive by attending unnecessary meetings, irrelevant stand-ups, useless discussions, browsing the web, grabbing coffee, going to the bathroom, playing foosball etc. Companies could just try without mandating 40hr weeks if the productivity would really suffer. But only few companies are brave enough to try it.

I can imagine working for a company with “flexible work week” - you can take Sunday off with manager’s permission.

Mo-Fr by default. Weekends only as exception (like oncall). And if you need to work Sat or Sun I'd say you should be fine taking off two weekdays as compensation.

It'd suck, love eating lunch and dinner at FB. Usually tastes good, healthier than most restaurants, and I can eat as much or little as I like depending on my fitness goals

Also lost productivity to go out for lunch. The 3 meals are less of a charity to employees and an investment by the company.

Moved from free food and snacks 😋 employer to Amazon. I now eat healthy food of my choice (home-made or purcha$ed): only the right size meals at proper times. I am no longer tempted with uncounted free carbs because there's none. I hope I can loose 20lbs at Amazon. No food and snacks at workplace is good chance for my weak will to practice intermittent fasting 🤪

Don’t care for free food at work. In fact, I don’t even eat it on most days.
Would be happy if they paid me cash instead.
