Sometimes it feels like people only think diversity is Male or Female. They completely neglect race in the topic. Have you felt this too? What do you do to educate people?
I'd rather to have diversity about religions. At least it's better than race/gender.
Agreed, ideological diversity is infinitely more important than race or gender diversity.
> They completely neglect race in the topic. I have never seen this.
But idealogical diveraity defeates the purpose of "diversity".
What is ideological diversity? You want your bosses to track your personal views? What happens if you change your views while working a job?
What happens if you change your skin color or gender while working?
What is ideological diversity in a practical sense. People keep using this to counter pose against diversity programs, but no one can seem to explain what it means in practical terms.
Amount of LGBT individuals.
I think it goes well beyond gender or race. It's background, history, social status, and a bunch of other things.
Gender and race diversity is generally advocated for on the grounds that it provides a diversity of perspective / ideas. Idealogical diversity is far more important than physical trait diversity.
What is ideological diversity? I don’t know if I’d get many interviews if I wrote “Marxist” on my resume or a job application. Liberalism and conservatism are just the right and left of one ideology, so I’m not sure what “ideological diversity” means practically.
Additionally, gender and race are things that cannot be hidden when you interview. But your ideological views can. People discriminate based on available data. And that’s what’s immediately available to them. The fact that you’re a hardcore Marxist May come out later, but unless you scream about it during the interview, it’s not going to affect the outcome, is it?
