For those that have worked at or have friends that have worked at Nike, curious what the work life balance and work environment is like there. Recruiter has been contacting me about various business/finance opportunities
Summer Fridays everybody’s out by noon. Don’t know if they’re going to keep that going next year, lots of benefits and fun activities got cut. Folks do work decent hours and I think they tend to be flexible with you taking off early to take care of something. Sabbatical every 7 yrs
Great thanks for the insight. What type of notable benefits are being cut?
I haven't noticed any benefit cuts in the last 3 years. Also, Friday summer hours will definitely never be cut. Overall it's pretty good, at least in the Digital group. Like any place, a lot of it is what you make of it - you *can* work long hours, but mostly that happens if you're bad at setting personal boundaries.
Benefits not as good as Microsoft. No RSU. Pay competitive if they want to get you to move but Portland market is not comparable to Seattle job opportunities over time. Highly matrixed.
Nike is good but bear in mind that once you move to Portland, it’s a narrow job market. If you happen to get laid off, there’s not mass amounts of opportunities like the larger cities. Also depending on the team the work culture can be brutal.
Don’t you mean factory/life balance?
