I have a call with a recruiter coming up for a job working on "sales enablement solutions" for AWS. I'm wondering what it's like to work at Amazon. Is there a good work life balance? Is it high stress? Thanks TC 185k YOE 7
It really depends on the team and org
Any tips on what to ask to find out about the team I am interviewing for?
Ask the engineers about the wlb the manager is trying to sell you, but the engineers will probably tell you. If they say we have aggressive goals or we deliver big projects on time that may be a bad sign. Also ask how many devs are on the team, if it’s only 4-5 that usually means half the team left and they are trying to backfill because most teams are supposed to be 12ish. So if they are doing backfill it’s probably not a good sign either
It’s a sweatshop. Most leave after 2 yrs or get PIPed.
There's a hanging sword for the bottom 10%. The problem is that there are many factors other than competence that can lead you to be considered part of that 10%. You're more likely to be in there while joining a new team.
I can't think of a worse company
No wlb. Work and sleep. Eat at desk. Only if you can get time to poop and shower. Forget everything else.
It sucks op
Employees=cattle
It depends.
