When to Job Hop to Maximize TC

Currently in NYC. Top performer. Bored at work. Working with lots of proprietary/dated technology. Don't feel like I'm learning much. How long should I wait before hopping to maximize TC? Yoe: 0.5 TC: 160k

Not time based. Jump when you get your promotion to L4/SDE2. Otherwise you start over at your new company.

As I understand it equivalent levels at top tech companies are paid more.

No need to wait for a promotion. If you list your title ambiguously then companies have to try to guess your previous level by skill - which can work out favorably

Yeah...not worth jumping until you are SDE2

How much TC does everyone think I could get by hopping at 1 year mark? 2 year mark?

Geez you only worked there for 6 months and find yourself "top performer". I hope i won't have to interview with that arrogance

Yes, absolutely a top performer compared to other new grads who joined with me.

Top performer relative to other new grads at the company isn't saying much. If you feel bored then start looking to take on more ownership and a larger scope on projects.

Don’t run behind money it will definitely comes to you. At this level you need to concentrate more on skill set and gain experience Don’t just try to fly immediately first you need to run so at certain periods of time you will fly
