When will homelessness have its #Pride moment?

As we come up on June and all of our companies participate in the Woke-off of bending over backwards showing how much they care about the LBGTQ... community, also known as Pride, I wonder, when is tech gonna have their moment where they start trying to out-do each other to show how much they care about the homeless? I’m not saying anything should take away from Pride, just wondering when companies will treat the cause with the same enthusiasm, half the enthusiasm, or even give two shits? Cisco and Amazon are really only two of the companies that do much of anything that can be seen as moving the needle, what’s going to cause other companies that benefit massively from using large city infrastructure to shuttle around their employees to actually care about their communities?

Get rid of the homeless! Ship them off to Oakland! Remove the safety net and watch them either die off or find work. Stop giving them a backup. That’s the only reason why homeless exist. Cause they know they will have a free place to sleep and free food to eat. There are so many homeless people that own a dog too. Wtf you can’t even take care of yourself and you try to raise a dog too? And these dogs look well fed just like these fat homeless people too.

It’s sad to say but homelessness and vagrancy has been a problem since the Roman times. You won’t see it fixed in your lifetime. Some people just make the self destructive decision when it’s placed in front of them. Others have mental issues. Money and drugs and exploitation whirl around. In the end people are humans and need to be allowed to live a different way, if that means homeless and high then all an enlightened society can do is offer escapes knowing most won’t climb the ladder without falling again.

A significant percentage of the homelessness crisis is due to mental illness.

Good question. Government doesn’t seem to be able to tackle the problem - whether it’s lack of interest, know how, motivation, who really knows. When tech gets behind issues it can certainly move the needle forward faster. I hope to see a resolution to this issue as well - even though we pay slightly less taxes in California compared to more socially progressive countries I feel we don’t get much benefit as a society on the whole.
