TC 140k 8 yoe Two things: Leave the Albertson's folk out of this. TMobile has shit pay and low interview bar - they convert contractors, who later start acting smart. Leave the answers in comments 🍿🍿
Plenty of startups do this. They adopt a Google like interview process with T-mobile pay.
Interviewed at Node which is a Mark Cuban startup. They asked me to implement a k means ML model from scratch with no warmup.
I think this is not very hard to implement.
A lot of things in ML sound fancier than they are
I’m looking at you, Zume
I recently go to onsite with series B startup. Everything is great lots of compliments. They send me take home challenge after that to implement what I recommend to improve their search system. They request amount of work that you can write a conference paper or probably even journal article with it. They request to implement not only advanced method but also simpler ones and compare the results. It is definitely free work. I will send f you later to them. I believe they are completely lost.
If I understand this correctly- what you’re describing sounds like a lot of fun! I’d be digging that.

Maybe it’s because I only interviewed w unicorns or larger, but Interestingly for me, the interview difficulty and potential pay very well aligned in my last round of interviews Google, Dropbox, FB, Two Sigma, Uber >> Amazon > Oscar, WeWork
Microsoft But our pay is amazing per hour worked. Note: the interview process varies by team though
