Two things:

Leave the Albertson's folk out of this.

TMobile has shit pay and low interview bar - they convert contractors, who later start acting smart.

Plenty of startups do this. They adopt a Google like interview process with T-mobile pay.

Interviewed at Node which is a Mark Cuban startup. They asked me to implement a k means ML model from scratch with no warmup.

This actually is not that hard. I would gladly do this over leetcode problems.

This is very straightforward, provided they let you look at Wikipedia or something

I would consider this problem as being โ€œhardโ€ to complete in 30-45min interview. Markโ€™s companies typically underpay by a lot as well

I recently go to onsite with series B startup. Everything is great lots of compliments. They send me take home challenge after that to implement what I recommend to improve their search system. They request amount of work that you can write a conference paper or probably even journal article with it. They request to implement not only advanced method but also simpler ones and compare the results. It is definitely free work. I will send f you later to them. I believe they are completely lost.

Probably it is fun for you because you want to learn about those topics, not fun for me I do it daily in my current job and do not have much time.

Beyond that I do not trust them, they seek free work. I gave 1 hour consulting session to VP of product in onsite. This is in NYC and fintech startup. Do not confuse with Silicon Valley. There are many sharks in Wall st

Zume has interviewers who think they are literally saving the world but then you realize they just got out of a coding boot camp.

Maybe itโ€™s because I only interviewed w unicorns or larger, but Interestingly for me, the interview difficulty and potential pay very well aligned in my last round of interviews
