Where should one go within Semiconductor companies to maximize pay? Which semi companies do you think you respect the most?
How about NXP, Broadcom or Marvell?
In terms of pay, I don't think so
Yeah Marvell right 😂😂
Broadcom pays well
Hands down Apple! They are not your traditional Semiconductor company but they are doing some amazing things with silicon!
Amazing things with silicon . 👧 🥞🥞 🦔
Pay wise Broadcom and Apple pay most..not sure about the respect part.
This is true.
Silicon labs
1. Apple/FB/G/Broadcomm 2. Xilinx/Samsung 3. Nvidia Rest dont matter. Fb’s intial pay can beat Apple easily (Speaking from personal experience), I am not sure about refreshers though.
Xilinx 300k 5yoe
Apple definitely, was getting 130k TC for samsung SARC and got 175k TC for Apple Austin with MS+4yoe
Semiconductor guys are out of luck when it comes to TC... Apple is probably the only one where your TC may compare decently to software engineer. Otherwise IC design engineer compensation will look pathetic when compared to a software (CS) position with same YOE. Unfortunately thats the sad reality of semiconductor industry.
They are starting to realize writing VHDL /Verilog is essentially like writing software and pay is improving. You may have to advertise yourself as an FPGA engineer assuming you have any experience with FPGAs. They also have a difficult time hiring Verification engineers with UVM.
Completely agree. I left semiconductors for software 3 years ago and I'm making more than my peers after the career restart. Margins are too low in semi to expect huge TC, so it helps to go to companies like Apple where their revenue source is well diversified.
Other than Intel... Qualcomm, Arm, Nvidia. What's your TC and Yoe?
115 tc 4 yoe
Hm 🤔 I believe Arm pays better
