Why LinkedIn sucks as a product

I don't go on LinkedIn all that much so when I do I usually have a ton of pending invitations. I like to quickly evaluate if I want to accept a strangers profile by looking over their profile and make sure they aren't going to spam me or something.

On Android, LinkedIn's interface does a great job letting you quickly evaluate profiles and then returns to the rest of the pending requests. Unfortunately, every time I try to go through these pending requests, I get accused of using a automation tool and my account gets locked. There's no way for me to contact support and express the issue as when your account gets locked, you cant sign in and you need to sign in to contact support on LinkedIn (horrible product design).

Would love for someone to take this feedback back to the product team and/or connect me with someone who can help me get my account unlocked or provide an email address I can contact.

I'm currently thinking about just stopping using LinkedIn altogether..

      Is that something you had before (as a culture) or something you adopted after being acquired by MSFT? 😊

      This is not true. Our paid premium customers definitely do not “come first”. Imo premium is a shitty product with not even close to enough features to justify price. Everything we build goes to all members basically and even though LinkedIn is buggy, we’re trying to build better infra to be able to scale better.

    @OP Although the portal to open a ticket with CS requires you to log in, you can just send them an email. lcshelp@linkedin.com should be able to help, and would take your feedback to. You are expressing a pain point that a lot of us agree with.

    OP. Just curious, if this reproducible via web or iOS.... this is no way is defending LKDN’s approach but wondering if this is isolated to implementation on Android or overall product’s workflow...

    Hate Linkedin. Stupid “features” at every turn. Every time I accept an invite it tries to get me to invite 5000 other people. Feed is now essentially Facebook 2.0 but worse. Zero shits seem to be given about user experience, just boosting numbers.

    Honestly I have a hard time believing you. There's a pretty high probability you were trying to scrape the site and got hit by this. If you were just doing too many searches or something then you would get hit by the search block, which would recommend you upgrade to recruiter. But it takes a lot to get bit with a block like this. If you are indeed innocent in this, just contact support and they'll unlock it.

      Believe it. Happened to me as I was opening tons of LinkedIn profiles trying to find a recruiter who was recruiting for a specific role. I didn’t get banned, I got a warning - next time will be a ban I assume.

      I got kicked out of the iOS app multiple times while just searching random people on LinkedIn, it would force me to login again along with a captcha

    If you have a lot of pending requests, try it for your self and you will see how shitty the security features you guys have are. Just quickly open then accept or decline and repeat like 15 profiles or so on mobile and your account will be locked
