It was not the case earlier in 90s and early 2000s. Is this something recent?
Hindu nationalists are ruling the county. What did you expect?
Identity politics is a distraction from class warfare, wake up you sheeple, stop fighting within yourselves
They are calling people Pakis for not standing during the anthem
Because they are stupid. I leave "they" to your imagination.
Why do they play national anthem before sports game ? I guess that's in every country.
Are you saying a weekend movie and olympics are the same? Representing a country in a match has some patriotic aspect. Common man watching a movie has nothing patriotic about it
We play national anthem before national games as well, forget international ones. Everybody is representing same country. I don't see a reason why patriotism while watching a sports is required but not for an art piece.
Lol trash. This takes me back to 1940s America. Did they put "in Gods we trust" on your money yet? Are you now "the greatest country in the world" too?!
Honestly, I find this idea stupid. Don’t mistake me, I’m patriotic. But this enforcing is just plain stupid.
Exactly..
Whatever, I love India's national anthem (it's a well composed song) and don't mind it playing. A lot of cinema halls I went to found innovative ways to play it including specially made videos of the anthem performed by different actors. That said, not everyone should be forced to stand especially handicapped people or pregnant women.
Me too.. I have respect for that. My point is it should not be forced on someone.
Never heard a case where a pregnent or old or handicapped person was forced to stand up. It would have made a news.
It always used to play even earlier. They used to have vandemataram at he beginning and janaganamana at the end, or vice versa I believe
playing anthem in movie halls existed even during congress era.
Havent you noticed the rise in nationalism? To keep the people distracted from global class warfare
Yes.. in the case of Modi government. But my question is by law can they force theaters to play this?
Law is a set of principles defined by the ruling elite/corporate/capital, in essence the rights of a human is far less inferior to the entities previously mentioned
