The white nationalists call conservative “fake right” and cuckservatives; white supremacist groups have leaked chats where they talk about using Trump supporters as cover and useful idiots. Historically, when far-right movements like this go above-ground, they don’t hesitate to kill conservatives along with their stated targets. But when a synagoge is shot up to stop “(((cultural marxists)))” from “replacing” white people with non-white immigrants or when the El Paso shooter tries to kill as many “mexican invaders” as he can, the response from conservatives tends to be: -what about something else -mental illness -they are marginal (as if terrorists need a critical mass of popular support) Why do they make excuses for white supremacists who drive cars into crowds of people or shoot up random people or blow up federal buildings and are cheered-on by other white nationalists online?
They make excuses because the conservative movement has historically been close to white supremacists. Much of the coded language was a cover for racism in the 60s, 70s, and 80s (state's rights, forced bussing, welfare queens, etc). The ongoing evolution of that language, the perpetual victimhood and whatabout pushed by state media, and a need to Own The Libs, has created what we have today: naked white supremacy from our president and terror groups.
Wrong again! The Democrat party is the party of the KKK and Jim Crow laws.
*was* the party of. Read a history book some time.
Because that’s what the lesser known groups under a red political umbrella DO. They leverage influential puppets to advance their own specific interests, making it seem like their presence is bigger than it really is. This backfires and makes the entire Republican Party look actively racist. A good number know to check such beliefs at the door on their way to the office. But they are now attacked for words they never said. Things they never did.
Food for thought: If the alt-right calls the other conservatives the fake right, then no one is “true right”?
Dafuq are you talking about? Major conservatives have universally condemned the El Paso shooter's white supremacist views and denounced it as evil.
Including the President
See the first few “whatabout” replies in this post. Also see my OP. My argument is not that they aren’t condemning white nationalist violence of the guy in El Paso, they have been downplaying it in general for the better part of a decade. Trump and others in this thread are still downplaying it by blaming mental illness when clearly some of these shootings have been ideologically motivated and cheered on by the far-right. Liberals downplay it too when they solely focus on guns in the abstract - as if civil rights era white nationalist terrorism wasn’t blowing up churches as well as shooting people. As if the OKC federal building hadn’t been bombed.
You seem to be assuming they are “covering for” by saying gun control won’t stop the terrible tragedies. Any real solution should look at both stopping the issue (mental health, job enablement, giving people a chance to be successful, etc) and mitigating the damage (gun control, gun confiscation, citizens with guns, etc) Democrats are generally focused on mitigating it so not as many people get shot but not prevention and conservatives on mental health/prevention but don’t try to mitigate the damage All politicians typically treat it as political points or virtue signaling instead of taking a holistic approach to tackle a complex issue
Because their base is shrinking and they have to pick up support where they can. Which is why when conservatives say that something was taken out of context, they mean it literally—it was said in a select context and wasn’t meant for you to hear.
How are the right “covering” for white supremacy?
Conservatives. By downplaying white supremacist ideology when someone writes a fascist manifesto. By labeling political terrorism just “mental illness”. By saying that the neo-Nazi who posted memes of running over protesters and then ran over protesters was “just scared and accidentally ran a bunch of people over”. By creating false equivalencies between some hotheads in a protest punching someone they thought was a Nazi and people who plan to kill as many Mexicans as they can and wrote a manifesto about it. By whataboutism.
Where is right covering for white supremacy Everyone is denouncing it. Fuck that dick bag No one is talking about the left wing nut Dayton guy. Who from the left is denouncing him
Seems like everyone on here is talking about him, very conveniently
Him? The left wing or the right wing nutter?
Magga
When is Elizabeth Warren going to denounce the Dayton shooter?
When white supremacy is brought up, the response is: “-what about something else”
