Why is T-mobile sponsoring Overwatch?

Do you think this is a good marketing strategy? Any other telecom companies doing this? I kind of don't understand the logic...I guess in a couple of years we might get overwatch tournament tickets lol?

It’s a dying game, community shrinks everyday. Activision doesn’t care about the community either, only redeeming thing is OWL but it’s boring af to watch b/c it’s GOATS meta.

It's a complex long term marketing strategy. Here is an example: Hi I'm hot 🍞, you might know me from my wacky blind posts! I started a new phone company, hot bread phones! Want to buy in? You would say "cool no thanks" - but why? It's because I'm new, the phone market desirable index is biased to old and established. What if your whole life you heard about this phone company? It might be new to older folks, but to you it's considered old and established. We are getting to the key ingredient, TRUST. They market to kids to build trust over a lifetime. It's a long expensive process, but the marketing numbers don't lie, it pays off.

They're getting into the emerging and growing market of esports, say what you want about the game and OWL, it's been successful enough to merit enough sponsorship and capital to invest in. In Korea, telecoms are heavily invested in esports, such as skt t1, Samsung, and KT. All of which have successful, world class league of legends teams. But Korea has been invested in esports since StarCraft.

We know everyone has phones, but honestly we'd prefer AT&T or Verizon. But here we are. Anyways, thanks for the cash.
