How did 2016 fail to inoculate people? Most people are aware of foreign influence to change our votes
Americans now have no way to escape from fake news. These years they just realized their “objective-like” big media companies are actually manipulated and played by a very small group of ppl. This is really ugly.
Newsmedia owners! The evil fckers.
I’m gonna go with yes
Because somehow Google controls the ballot box? Elections are operated at the state and local level.
Google can drive traffic and coverage of certain candidates in a way that fits their politics. This has way more power than a few hundred Russian bots..
Shouldn’t that realization change 2020, now that there’s awareness about it?
The “fake news” critique is so hollow. Every media outlet publishes politically motivated content and spins stories to fit their narratives. They’ve been doing this for decades.
Read the Guardian. Get better US news than any American news outlet.
The biggest problem with fake news is... it looks and sound real. Before the rise of Facebook, a news outlet that keep published misleading news would eventually lose all credibility. The problem with social media is it’s easy to publish under a disposable pseudonym.
Trump was voted by less than 50% of active voters which itself is less than 50% of all eligible voters. So he was basically voted by about 22% of American population. It's easy to fool less than a quarter of the population with fake news.
Fox news is literally fake news and they are the leading news network because there is no other network competing for uber conservatives.
Openai gpt2 enables fake news at a whole new level
Of course. People are gullible AF.
Yep, and that's why Trump will probably win
Not if Democrats produce better fake news
We can only hope
