Several rumours suggesting Apple gonna launch TV services in coming April. This means they are going to bundle the subscription fees with iTunes subscription. Will this affect Netflix? Because Apple invested 1 Billion and signed some of the good content providers. Also AirPlay support helps people to connect their home smart TVs. How the folks at Netflix see this?
Maybe you should wait for details before the random speculation. How bored are you?
Apple were also heavily investing in car. Should Tesla and Others be scared ?
1. Apple is not going to launch car in near future. 2. Apple TV service is going to be launched in April. 3. Apple killed fitbit, IBM, Nokia, Microsoft in Mobile. All of them were leaders before Apple started to conquer.
So Apple dominates in consumer electronics where better integrated hardware and software is extremely valuable to consumers. They do not dominate in the streaming content world. Look at Apple music vs Spotify. iTunes vs Amazon prime video. iTunes used to dominate but got disrupted by streaming services. Apple responded with Apple music which by all accounts is a failure. Because Apple is great at one thing is precisely the reason they will not be great at something completely different. They have strategic focus.
Just like how Apple is killing the self driving car game!
I don’t think so, I believe Apple is not capable of innovation anymore
Good joke. Apple is all about innovation and they are going in right track.
Like they are innovating new features in iPhone every year...lol
Apple should just buy Netflix the way that Amazon bought Whole Foods. Apple’s streaming tech sucks
Ok, even Google that owns YT didn't crack it you really think Apple will? I think chances are slim and even Disney is a bigger threat to Netflix.
Yes! Because Apple has a premium and loyal user base which is a killer combination
You can use that argument for literally anything. Apple should make cars, fridges, supermarkets too then. Although what you said is true Apple has succeeded when the market was not being served well or by just 1 player. Also, success in Apple music wouldn't be transferable because not that many people have Apple TVs which likely would be a prerequisite just like iPhone is to Apple music
I think with Apple's release, Netflix will have a threat in US. But outside, say in markets like India, no change.
Apple can take out Netflix from their App Store if they want to! That’s how they work.
Netflix makes a ton of original content. And they use data exceedingly well to create it for very specific audiences; chances are any given person thinks any given Netflix show “sucks” because they are not the target for it. This has generally served Netflix well. Apple won’t compete with that. Netflix isn’t in the streaming business. Nor in the mainstream movies/tv business. It’s in the business of creating hyper-targeted content.
Nah
Anyway Netflix should not take this lightly. Apple is having premium users and they will definitely switch to Apple Service if they find the content attractive. Also Apple will bundle with iTunes just like Amazon Prime.
Apple isn’t in that business
