Thanks for sharing. Will help me understand how folks are approaching the situation.
Cash is king in a recession. If you need the money within 3 years it shouldn't be invested any way.. take the dip as an opportunity to buy low.
Why wouldn't you invest it?
Because you're going to need it within 3 years
Out of control!!!
Completely cashed out. Invested only 3% in calls today. Not gonna pick sides for the next 2 weeks. Will enter if it goes down continuously for the next 2 weeks.
How large is your entire portfolio, I think I am.gonna pay more taxes than it if I sell all. Pun intended.
You should have gained more than half a million if you wanna cover my portfolio through ur capital gains. Good for you if you are in that position ;)
Cash in savings account. I’ve been through 1 recession. Only the cash in my hand saved me and my family. I could put food on the table for my kids. My investment property and current home both went down in price. My renter lost his job and vacated my rental. It was so hard to find a new tenant to break even with mortgage. Not doing that again.
How much cash do you keep in savings account? Just to see if I am doing anything crazy. As of today, I have 20k emergency fund in CDs + 40k in savings account.
What kind of rental did you have and where is the location? I just bought one
For folks who are accumulating cash, at what point will you feel like you have too much cash in hand, and so have to do something else - like 50 or 100 or 200 or 300k etc?
6 months of expenses
Just doing long term investing and as long as I keep steadily investing at the low rates I’m gaining an advantage with a long view. But outside the 401k no stock investments. Cash and real estate.
How are you balancing real estate risk? Where have you invested?
I have rental income. No plan to sell. Small town, America
No recession is coming. US economy is very strong.
Agreed our economy is strong, but like a balloon its inflated. The debt cycles have caught up with us and we've been due since 08 when we didnt pay our dues. Plus there are a lot of economic issues outside of the US that could have trickle effects.
I voted other. Historically, my biggest investments have been in weed and video games. They still are.
Slowly cash out...600 k in cash and will probably sell more.
