I’m deciding about whether or not to accept an offer from FB for an E4 mobile eng role. I’m worried about the work life balance situation at FB. How is the WLB for most engineers at FB? Does it really depend on the team? If so, what teams should I avoid? TC: 230K
Is it React Native? The best.
Probably not. I’ve done a lot of work building native components for RN, but JS is not my favorite language for sure :P
Out of curiosity, what is? I love JS and hate everything else but I am trying to get into Python, haha.
Have had friends there 5years + and I myself just joined. So far so good from coming and talking with them. Manager I report to is relaxed. As to the cars in the parking lot, yes it's full, why cause traffic sucks and the food for dinner isn't served till 6pm. Also seems alot of teams start later.
Huge relief to hear this. Thank you. Not looking for a country club but don’t want to go crazy either 😜
If I were you I would use this FB offer to negotiate another good offer at a better company. FB is going downhill fast, use this leverage while you can.
And to clarify, I don’t mind working insanely long hours for a week or two when the need arrises. But I also don’t want to be permanently working long hours all the time, my spouse would be deeply unhappy. It’s an amazing opportunity I’m dying to take, but I’m also pretty nervous.
Why don't you ask the members of the team this question?...
At FB, you don’t join a team right away, you go through boot camp first. So I’m not actually sure what team I’ll end up joining
