Hi, anyone here uses Workday's software? I have heard really good things about it but also some nightmarish stories. Have you had experience with it? Thanks!
It's trying to be too much of a multi tool, but it really could be worse I think. Depends on how your company uses it. At Nvidia, it's only used to show onboarding tasks, even if you're paid by the hour. In a another context (not Nvidia), it was used for time entry. It was a little finicky, but, again, could be worse.
Interesting. I have heard something similar on being a multi tool. What are the negatives about it?
Just little things like how for each time entry you have to select the "type" of entry, which in my case could not be anything other than "hours worked". This was unavoidable, so it added two extra clicks to every data entry. Also, you cannot submit all the entries at once; it splits up the submissions into two week groups for some reason. Basically, it just doesn't seem like it was designed with the user's time in mind. But all these are pretty minor issues. I can't imagine why the other people in this thread are so vehemently opposed to it. Maybe I'm generous to it because I haven't ever had to use a decent alternative.
Better than PeopleSoft
How long have you used it for? What are the positives and negatives?
When applying for jobs, when I saw they used workday, I immediately closed the tab and moved on. It's a pile of shit, use Lever ffs.
Wow, really? Can you tell me more about it? What do you dislike about it?
The functionality as a whole is ancient. It's like their using some twisted version of flash and iframes... You'll see what I mean if you use it yourself
From my understanding, Workday is much better than its competitors' software. However, I would say that its UI is worse than software in general.
Interesting. Why do you think that is? Are they thinking of fixing that?
Workday was built with a design that was ahead of its time, which is why it was better than its competitors. However, that design has not kept up with improvements in web technology, so it is slowly falling behind. There are changes that are happening in The tech stack that are improving things, but it won't happen overnight, especially since our current and perspective customers care a lot more about features than the UI.
Terrible
Why do you say that?
