As a part of my l33tc0de adventures, I spend quite a bit of time exploring leetcode. What I felt was that in addition to "solving" it there is a method to the madness of internalizing the approach. Solving 5/10/50 or 100 questions is irrelevant, what seems to matter is how you are internalizing the problem solving approach (and it seem to be a personal journey for each individual). a. Trying to setup a small leetcode workshop (in person, in Seattle, in the 2nd / 3rd week of October), should be free, but may ask folks to donate like 100$ to a 501c3 org to gatekeep a bit. limit to 5-8 participants. b. Format should be 5 hour session - 1 hour of theory (relevant to the problems to be solved) - 2 hour of problem solving ( 2 easy, 2 medium 1 hard) - 15mins/easy, 25 mins /medium + 40 mins / hard - All in same genre. - 2 hours of problem break down and solution evolution. What do folks think? Ping / DM if interested. Suggestions welcome :)
Why don’t u also come to Bay Area ?
Would love to, can run this in Seattle first, if it works, can replicate it in bay area, either me, or can get a few folks I know to run this. Totally doable.. Trying to work the mechanics first. In case it was not obvious, not trying to run this as a "venture" - just a way of having fun. $100 is a the gate keeping fee to donate to a non-profit entity is to limit it to serious folks only - may up the $$ if too much interest :).
Here people pay 5000 USD for this and you are asking for 100 . Great Service to human kind
I’m interested, but I’m in NYC.
unfortunate, any chance you are flying to Seattle anytime soon :)
How do I validate if you’re going to help me with problem solving?
Didn't follow your question Please do join http://bit.ly/slack4lc - a free group that has been around nearly 8 years. Community driven. I think this workshop can help folks. Ultimately your call, on your participation.
Already happening weekly in Seattle. Search for SDESkills Seattle.
Yep, I am already on that too http://bit.ly/slack4lc The slack group is 3 questions weekly online, with discussions on slack, questions are random and participation is sporadic. This one is one is expected to be in person, limited to 6-8 participants, time bound 5 hours, 5-6 questions. The questions will be selected to be illustrate problem solving. I think these two should complement each other, focus areas are different.
I would be interested. I do have a question though. The allocated times for questions are pretty short for someone who isn't in good shape yet. Are you targeting folks who have been practicing and are generally able to solve the problems in good time or should a mix be good enough?
Great question @YuGiOh The basic plan is to cover some concepts in the 1 hour pre-session (like parsing an array / traversing it from left / right , dealing with sorted arrays etc). Now after this you should be able to solve LC easy that use this concept in 15 mins (problem solve and code / may be ust problem solve). Questions such as 2sum (easy), extend to 3sum, 4sum (medium), or max xor / min xor (hard). Medium cant take more than 25mins, and hard should be doable in 40 given these are extensions of each other. Following a quick 15 minute break, next 1.5 hours will be spent on how the solution has evolved, with participation from everyone. I can see this as a super engaging session, with right moderator / lead, this can be quite illuminating. The $$$$$ (now I am upto 5 @Somu) is just a simple gatekeep mechanism. If this is indeed valuable and effective, may be worth doing it repeatedly (with the questions for different set of folks). I am a tad busy till mid October, so looking to do this on a weekend in 2nd or 3rd week of October. All feedback welcome, at the moment this is just a brain fart.
Please PM for this!
As in, you want me to pm you?
Please comment here if interested in participating (or DM me). I am possibly a n00b at "blind", any good way to find out who "liked"/:thumbsup: the post. I want to ping/dm/reach out folks based on interest.
