How are the teams there? Heard complaints from a couple people, but their unhappiness stems from incompatibility issues with specific coworkers or having to work in Mountain View. I heard the pay is good though, better than what Sephora can offer.
What did you hear?
ENG or Design?
I work on shopping property team in Pittsburgh. I love my team, idk what you have heard.
Their issues aren't necessarily about the company/team but about specific individuals that they don't get along with. It's more personal, that's why I wanted to get feedback from others on Blind.
Imo, with a few notable exceptions, the culture is made to support underperforming majority of engineers - and is more biased towards soft roles like holding meets and writing docs. Even the "engineering" work is really largely about QC of metrics and about being able to argue out your charge as a good change.
Things are messy and the direction is a bit scattered, but the people are good overall. WLB can be a bit hit or miss. All in all, I don't regret joining the team
How bad is the wlb? > 40 hours per week most of the time?
Worth going to Google but who uses Google Shopping when Amazon is the first thing that comes to mind. Remember even if you don't like Shopping after one year you can transfer.
No
I'm in Google Travel, which is run by the same VP as shopping. I really like my team and the general leadership of the organization.
Anything is better than Sephora
Better than Sephora for sure, but Google shopping culture is bad, individual ppl might be good but leadership.definitely lacks clarity. Can you ask for a different team?
What sorts of bad things are there about Google shopping? And is this in Pittsburgh?
Step up from Sephora but that’s all
