Say Africans invented ships and guns first, and then would "discover" Europe on one of their voyagers. Would they do to Europe what Europeans did to Africa?
Of course - war and oppression have existed across all continents (excluding Antarctica) since pre-Egyptian and Greco-Roman times
It is not about the race It is about who we are We are animals So yes, they would do it
Nope. Think why Europe invented gun. It is harsh environment which made them to think about future , save food, conquer more to have more safer future etc., Africa life was not like that. I don’t think they can go and conquer other.
I really think Africans have been the most oppressed because of their non-domineering attitude, i dont think its in them to want to rule others, they just want their freedom
Everywhere is the world. Yes. Good view.
There is a saying that even a cat would rebel if caged for too long, ive always believed the rebelling africans are the direct result of oppression they faced for centuries. I hope theyre treated better going forward, so they can find some peace. They would be happily engrossed in their music and food, if only they were left alone
Mongolians colonized some parts of Europe once, but it wasn't sustainable in the long run. Africans would have won some fights, but a long term colonisation would have been impossible.
1) Africa did invade Europe (the Moors) 1) This was the predominant order before capitalism - zero sum game where your life was made better by conquering others. It would be racist to assume anything other than the OP premise.
Most definitely would. What happened in colonialism period would have happened anyway. Just faces and names would be different. The behavior is the same. Africa had kingdoms which were greedy for power just like Europe. Europeans were able to obtain technology faster is all. Mutually assured destruction is the reason why we’ve only had small wars since WWII. It’s the ultimate peacekeeper.
But that definitely doesn’t justify it, or justify all the brutality and horror that happened during that period.
No. But I honestly see no other way it could have happened. Colonialism was terrible. It’s not like the Age of Enlightenment led to peace and understanding. Just need to accept the sins of our ancestors and not repeat them.
I don’t consider colonization and invasion the same thing. Hence I don’t think Africa ( I’m imagining a giant empire of several states )had reason to colonize Europe. It’s a rich continent with A LOT of natural resources and a lot of people. I don’t how how Africa could exploit Europe? (Open ended non rhetorical question)
Britain had lots of easy to mine coal.
They did. Been to Paris lately?
Never heard about Hannibal Barca?
