Specially if it is a pre-allocated slot, and I want to apply next year (or in 6 months) to the same team in case I regret my decision. Would that blacklist me, get the manager to think less of me... Or they would not really care. Conversely, would I have an easier time because they already liked me once?
Ehh, fb is probably the worst company you could work for considering how damaging they are to humanity as a whole.
Could you enlighten me on that? I know their main product is the facebook app but they do have other pretty cool projects like internet drone, etc.? (Genuinely curious)
The internet project is one of the most insidious things I’ve ever seen. Essentially it’s the worst case scenario if net neutrality were to die. It is not an open internet. It is a permission based internet where fb gets to be the sole gatekeeper of information. Imagine a world where only the websites fb approved were the ones you could access. That’s this. Fuck Facebook.
Yes this is obviously a bad thing to do. You can be upfront and tell the hiring manager that you want to wait 6 months but it is their job to fill the position ASAP
That job might not be there for you in six months. Or a year. It may never be there for you again - perhaps down the road, some other person is better than you. FB attracts smart people from around the world!
They would not blacklist you, I rejected an offer and still get calls from them. I think as long as you turn it down nicely, should be fine.
No why would anyone blacklist you for saying no !
Won't black list you for Facebook as a whole. That position will be gone though.
And that team might not waste their time with you again. Depending on how you decline and the reasoning
You will get called again. Not necessarily for same team
Why do you want to do that?
Because I am torn between good offers. I am afraid of having regrets either way
