Currently working big four, have final interview with Amazon as Sys Dev Eng. If I get the offer should I make the switch?
It is bad, however if it were me, I would just omit the 2 month job from my resume going forward. I would only do this though if the better opportunity was significantly better (not just TC wise)
Thank you, that's solid advice
I think Big 4 working culture is better than amazon’s? Also what is a Sys Dev Eng in amazon?
Could you elaborate on that work life culture statement? I'm interested to hear your perspective on why that is And it was describe to me as a 50/50 split between Software Development Engineer and Systems Engineer. (As far as I understand) It mostly deals with automating tasks on Linux systems
Work life culture in Amazon is a hit or miss. In short, you can safely bet that there is lacking human respect in the workplace, and Jeff Bezos has no empathy for human beings in general. Thanks for your explanation on the SysDE role. I think “Systems Engr” just means that there will be more emphasis on production support (i.e. oncall). haha
No, its a lot easier to explain why you left sooner rather than later. Leaving between 6-12 months is trickier Just leave it off your resume
You can just leave since it’s only been 2 months. But keep in mind that if you ever work in jobs that require things like clearance, they may be able to find out. Eg. Government jobs or consulting role with a government entities where you’ll be accessing confidential data.
The Amazon job requires clearance, do you think that would hurt my chances? I'm pretty sure I was transparent about being currently employed
Are you currently interviewing with Amazon? Do they know you’re currently working with KPMG? If yes, then it’s fine. I was referring to future jobs. Eg. You worked for KPMG for 2 month, left and join Amazon. 2 years from now you want to apply for company ABC. That’s wheee I’d leave your 2 months job off the resume.
Go to amazon. Do what is best for you.
