Would you recommend being a PM at these Big N companies?

Title. Companies such as FB/IG, LinkedIn, Spotify, Airbnb, DBX, Square, Verizon/Oath, Uber, Salesforce, Twitter. TL;DR: They're a junior at uni trying to transition in PM. They're interested in your exp based on the title. Also, any feedback for transitioning to PM based on their general info below is helpful too. This is a post on behalf of a former colleague of mine who’s a junior at university. They currently don’t have a work email right now and therefore can't post. I'm not a PM so I couldn't really help them. Some facts about the colleague for context: -Business and Info Sys. major with 3.7 c.gpa -Interned at MassMutual as a Project/Prod mgmt intern (minimal prod exp) -Incoming proj mgmt intern at Prudential Financial this summer -Lead research assistant at a HCI based research lab -Previous summer instructor at a coding summer camp (technical coding background) -Myers Briggs: INTJ (for the context of general personality) If you want to talk more in detail about the colleague, or have any other questions I’m open to DMs, just be genuine, let’s not waste each other's time. Thanks for reading.

TLDR

He's not a PM, otherwise he would have PRIORITIZED reader Engagement and other metrics like that.

Some companies have better training or learning opportunities for someone new to product to grow from than others. They are usually the bigger companies who have more structure and bigger training programs or funds. Unfortunately, many big companies also come with their own bad habits... bad process nobody is willing to change, unnecessary politics, too much bureaucracy to get things done. Best advice is, learn all you can from outside sources and whichever direction your friend chooses, don’t stay at one place for too long... get different experiences so you can have better perspective sooner.

Awesome, thanks for the advice, I'll relay this information.

Yup. SiriusXM is right. BTW, sorry I cancelled your service, but not sure how you can improve that product.

A lot of the companies on the list won’t be interested in a PM with no experience.

The colleague is trying to get a entry level internship for context

Oh, it’s a bit late for summer intern programs.
