Wrongful Termination

5yrs with T-Mobile, not one Written Warning, Not one Written PIP. A peer gets promoted to District Manager, while peers we did not "like" each other but we were professional and cordial. After 30 days of being in his District I was Written Up for not doing my job. He came back and wrote me up again a few weeks later stating I did not do what he asked? But he never visited during this time and I had documentation showing I did everything he asked. So he "found" other things, I.e. Labor was high, so I fixed that too! Had the most successful month (June) of the year! #4 in District month to date mid July! Did not see him for a month. Came in mid July and Terminated me stating I had not done what was asked. Even though I had 100% documentation and numbers to prove it...... Just goes to show, Great company's can have some vindictive Upper Managers! I had 16yr career in Wireless, 5 of those with T-mobile.... Get the wrong "boss".... And he manages me out in 4 months!!... Not a Leader!!..... Probably because I called him out on it 2 months ago... Hope Karma is real.... I will be fighting this, but in the meantime, I have another opportunity. Any advice on moving forward? It came as a shock, but I'm dealing...

Also report this to the CEO directly, with concerns that you may take this to Court. Executives hate managers that create lawsuit expenses.

you probably work in an 'at will' employment state. not sure what you expect to gain from a fight, or why you would have wanted to continue working under a boss like that. take this as an opportunity to locate your next step, working for folks who have a better moral/ethical compass. move forward from this and show them what they're missing.

+1. You are most likely in an "at will" employment state. Public fight risks long term damage to your brand as well (what would your next employer think about how you handled this if it was a public fight?) sucks but few options I think (at least few options that have a reasonable chance of turning out good for you).

I'm sorry, but this sorta shit is rampant in these companies and the likes of Microsoft and Cisco.

I have 3 offers in hand and more interviews to go. I'm leaving MS so to say (mainly for better comp), but people are pretty good here.

  • not really sure what you can do if you're an at will employee and not a minority or woman (I'm not trying to get political, just saying that that would open some options to investigate)

Even if you are a woman or a minority it is almost impossible to prove a case like this in an at will state.

Fight it. When people do nothing it gives power to those who abuse it. Email and or DM (Twitter) Legere your concerns. They don't need any bad press. There are several class action lawsuits against them right now from employees that have been mistreated.
