Yes Sheryl, I Avoid Women At Work Because of #MeToo

https://www.recode.net/2018/2/28/17064254/facebook-sheryl-sandberg-me-too-mentors-wall-street-bankers-morgan-stanley I thought this article was really interesting because I did notice that I pick coworkers to go to launch parties, work trips, lunch who are not female because I am worried about potential sexual harassment complaints. I also avoid having women on my teams because I don’t want to be criticized if I’m not promoting the women on my team fast enough. I also skip going away parties for female coworkers, because I don’t want to look like I cared too much about them. I have problems. I will work on this. I’m glad you brought it to light.

Maybe they’re avoiding you ;)

Deloitte ParPaper Feb 28, 2018

I totally appreciated that you read this and get it and are going to try. That’s pretty awesome. Thank you! :-)

Facebook SmellyCatt Feb 28, 2018

Yeah if you’re really worried just carry recorder with you at all times

Adobe grumpy1 Feb 28, 2018

Recording someone in california without their knowledge is a major crime in california.

What she is saying makes total sense. But personal risk of being abused by #metoo is too high. Thank you Sheryl.

95% of women are harmless. It's not hard to figure out who are the 5% you should be extra careful around

Tableau closegrok Feb 28, 2018

Same can be said about men, no? If it’s not hard for women to figure out who are those 5% terrible men, why don’t they stay away from them?

Microsoft zoomba Feb 28, 2018

To start with as a manager If you find you are having hard performance discussions do them with your door open and a female coworker next door. Do not take Amy road trips with them. Avoid being alone with them.

Google YTBs33 Feb 28, 2018

Come on OP, this is just a lame excuse you use to distract yourself from the real problem: having zero women skills. If women actually wanted to talk to you, it wouldn’t even be something you’d have to think about. Be cool, be respectful, that’s all you have to do.

And your assumption that he has zero women skills is based in what evidence exactly?

I’ve seen this “just be cool and respectful” response a dozen times in this #metoo topic already. How can you not understand this very simple issue: this approach will work fine for 99.9% of women in my office, but I have absolutely no intention taking my chances of having my career ruined by the other 0.1%.

95% men are harmless. It's not hard to figure out who are the 5% you should be extra careful around. But then women are in my attracted to those 5%

Uh, no. Don't go spreading the bullshit rhetoric "oh women only want the BAD guys" just bc you can't get with any ladies. Women want fair pay and trustworthy people in their lives, it's not too much to ask

I will once you accept that women are not innocent damsels constantly under attack by men. All this metoo nonsense just proves the ridiculous sense of entitlement that women have these days. Lazy bums just looking to exploit men to make for their lack of talent and basic intelligence

I know women who faced these issues at work - not getting invited to lunch by male coworkers, avoided for 1:1 mentor ship etc. ultimately this exclusion hurts the women’s careers

Microsoft zoomba Feb 28, 2018

Wonder how that happened. The guys are afraid.

I have been offered to be a manager several times in last couple of years, this is one reason I decline all the time, having to deal with this #metoo crap than actually doing something meaningful in technology

I don’t understand why people like Sheryl Sandberg are considered feminists.. they are purely selfish, self serving elitists..

SAP Sbcuy08 Feb 28, 2018

Valid concern.
