If you got 3 months severance plus possibly unemployment, I would take 2 weeks vacation in a nice place. Is not that companies call you right away
Why not get a job first and then take a vacation for two weeks knowing you don't have to worry about anything when you get back?
That may work too but possibly once you get the job you may be worried about other things. As I said companies wont call you right away after posting resume, at least not the better ones. Also it is the beginning of the year, companies are just starting to wake up.. I know this from experience last year.

This. After my first layoff, I no longer feel safe. I need to be ready to jump at all times.
It is stress if you are on work visa or student visa, take a week off, plan things, prepare for a month and schedule interviews in parallel. You will nail it.
Toss a few resumes out there and enjoy my 3 month vacation.
