It's more like: stories targets a different kind of part of the brain that keeps social media people obsessed. I hate stories more than anyone, but here are some benefits: 1) if no one likes it you're not forced to wonder whether you should leave that selfie up or admit defeat and delete 2) in fact: it let's you "share" content without anyone having the ability to "like" so your less popular opinions still reach an audience but only you know how many people saw it 3) self-deleting in case you post something embarrassing and forget becuase you're drunk 4) keeps other users coming back because if they don't log in once every 24 hours they might miss something that actually makes them feel something
