I applied to a Product Manager position at a startup and received a “thank you, we’ve received your application” email, but I haven’t heard back so I’d like to follow-up (very interested in the position and company). The email says “do not reply.” I think I have four options here for following up. Please let me know if you have advice—I’d appreciate any assistance! 1) use the email address for contacting the company noted at the bottom of each page of website (info@) 2) use the “general information” email address on the “connect with us” page (inquiries@) 3) message the person who would be my boss on LinkedIn...he seems pretty important so this could be a waste of time 4) message one of three HR people I found on LinkedIn
When in doubt message on LinkedIn, if they get salty, then it's not worth working there
Your best bet would be find a connection (any connection) and reach out through them. If it really is your dream job, no means are legit.
Message hr or potential boss on LinkedIn what do you have to lose? Startups are so busy they mightve just overlooked your app
Thanks guys! I’ve messaged the lead HR woman on LinkedIn, but no response yet. I’ll try the person who would be my boss or another HR person if I don’t hear back in a few business days. I’ll let you know if I manage to get through to someone! I appreciate your advice.
Still haven’t heard anything. Oh well! My job hunt continues, on to the next.
Its very hard to startups to hire. If you’re not immediately contacted you’re probably underqualified.
I believe I’m qualified for this one and it might be my dream job, so I really do want to reach out.
