what are some things that I should be aware of? how do you manage the winter chills and the rains? do you take an Uber on those days? for reference this is my commute : https://goo.gl/maps/YVJfpdvmRosJZcJX6
Seriously?? You made a post for biking advice when you're just biking 2miles? 🤨
Lol. I know. He's probably all decked out like Lance Armstrong too. F I hate those guys. Remember we used to bike and skateboard in jeans and sandals. But now older we need spandex and high end gear
Lol. So true. There’s a guy on my team who bikes a few miles away and shows up looking like A pro bike racer who left it all out on the field. Nothing like seeing a massive Ghee-generated bot belly in spandex. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not one to mock someone trying to exercise. But still...it’s overkill. The gear doesn’t make the athlete.
You’ll be fine! LinkedIn has really good programs for bikers. And for days you can’t bike, they will help you with alternatives - Scoop / Lyft
Just be thankful you don’t have to deal with Seattle winter and bike your ass off.
Beware of newly imported wives practicing their car driving skills on Sunnyvale roads. Too much risk to life.
Savage! 🔥
Enuf a$$holes already why bch about the imported ones?
Wear a helmet, stay in the damn bike lanes as far over towards the sidewalk as you can, and obey traffic laws as if you were a car.
Uhh...helmet, reflectors, and bike lamp. Try and avoid busy streets. That’s pretty much it. During winter it gets dark early before some people leave work, so I would take off during daylight hours.
Winter chills include surviving the freezing 50 degree weather in the morning
I strongly suggest disc brakes and a decent cycling rain jacket for the winter. Realistically though, it's the bay area, and a short ride, you'll be fine. Watch out for train tracks and other wet metal in the rain as those are slippery AF. Wear a helmet at all times, and get good bike lights. Check out go/commutebybike for more resources. Finally, if you really can't ride, there's also scoop, which is free for LI riders.
Disc brakes are a myth for bikes. I believed so too but after some research became wiser.
Exercising in open traffic? Not wise.
