what is it like to work at chan zuckerberg initiative? Is the culture as toxic as that at FB?
I don’t think it could be due to the fact that, although set up as an LLC (vs. B-corp, charitable trust, etc.), it is functionally a social mission driven non-profit, right? I only know one person who has ever worked there and she was not only an unbelievably impressive person, but the loveliest human being.
I'm not saying this just cuz I work there. These are some of the smartest and nicest people I've ever had the pleasure of working with. There have been some duds and our fair share of toxic people. Every company has them. However, CZI is getting better about terminating them.
Uber blames FB’s toxic culture? Uber laid off real workers and did not do much with their toxic PMs.
Uber douchebag talking about “toxic culture.” That’s laughable. You change CEO’s and suddenly you’re the angel in the Valley passing judgment on others. 👍
Word.
Lol I know Uber sucks , don’t want to leave hell to go to a worse or a similar place. Have some empathy folks ? Anyways, looking to hear from people who actually work at CZI or know of people who work there.
Is uber that bad? Whats asked for their first round? LC med or LC hard?
I don’t find any issues performance appraisal wise. It’s much better than FB. However, the business model is not ironed out and job security is not as high as the ad monikers.
I don’t find it to be toxic :) It’s an interesting intersection of a non-profit meets a technology company. That said, it’s neither a startup nor a big company.
How is the compensation relative to FAANG ? Do they give FB stock ?
No FB stock. Totally independent of Facebook, except for the shared founder. Compensation competitive with FAANG minus stock.
No stock, since CZI and FB are completely separate entities.
Thanks!! How does the TC compare with FAANG ?
So, as I replied on a different thread, there's no stock, which is typically part of TC. However, fwiw, I'm told that our base salaries are competitive. There's currently a review of the TC under the name 'Total Rewards'. Not sure what will come of it, but it's being considered because we're having trouble hiring at senior levels.
The people are all very friendly and talented. Some engineers may come from Facebook but it’s not a toxic environment.
TC is more comparable to FAANG (still lower but def higher salary) at lower levels, at higher levels the gap is wider. Culture wise there's thrash and ambiguity but I don't find it toxic. Like others have said the people are very nice.
This sums it up fairly well
Culture at FB is not toxic. But if you already think so then stay at Uber.
