I currently work as a Product Manager and do not have a bachelors degree. I made the choice to go back to school earlier this year to get a CS degree. Recently I’ve lost steam and have taken the last 6 months off of school. I would need about a year and a half of schooling to complete that degree. Is it worth it? I’m not concerned with the cost, just the abilty to be more marketable elsewhere. I have a pretty great company and team, so I have no current work complaints, just internal anxiety right now.
Is it worth it? Doesn't provide any details on cost.
6 years of fintech experience with an associates of arts currently. If that had a CS degree with it- would it really make that big of an impact to my marketability? I care less about cost and more about opportunities gained from having a bachelors.
Then don't ask about worth, worth is costs versus benefits. If you're just interested in benefits, ask about that.
Degree is just a credential with the knowledge being only a byproduct. If you want to learn CS for personal growth or to build better products (assuming you're in tech) I strongly suggest investing the time in areas of your biggest interest first. That will keep you motivated. Then work on fundamentals that you don't understand, e.g. networks, data structures, whatever you will apply to your problem space.
Where are you doing your bachelor's from? Which University?
Honestly, just SNHU. It’s online and convenient. I’ve thought of transferring to other schools, but the flexibility is what makes SNHU optimal here. Open to other school suggestions too!
