There is no reasonable way for them to do so. But still just don't tell them what you make. Tell them what you expect to make there and leave it at that.

It's always worked out better for me to say that I don't disclose that information, because my value at one company does not influence my value at another company They're not going to be able to verify whether you are padding your income, but I feel like it's not worth lying instead of declining to answer
