Are Expedians happy about the move to Seattle and the reorg thats happening there? how competent is the new CEO - Mark?
I assume all the older people with families who don’t want to commute from the east side to interbay (???) are going to leave. Which is probably exactly what Expedia wants
It was part of the planned cost out by doing this, to save the company massive money without having to do a force reduction.
We love hiring people with no experience. The less the better. It’s no surprise the codebase looks like the contents of a sick toddler’s diaper I personally am not a fan of the move. I think the reorg was the right thing to do, we will see how the actual execution of the idea turns out.
The new campus looks nice compared to current building. Location sucks, would anyone given the choice actually want to work in interbay? Might not be a huge issue if they follow through on shuttle promises. New campus is flex seating so you won't have a personal desk or possibly a desk at all some days. Reorg is too early to tell, just hope we stick with a plan for more than a year. CEO hasn't really changed a lot, seems frugal.
Yes, I want to but I live close to the new campus. I can definitely understand why ppl wouldn't want to
The move is going to be great. New campus is so much better than our current building. We lose folks who live in bothel but gain those in Ballard.
Expedia can't afford anyone whose experienced enough to buy a house in Ballard
The move sucks. It's on the ass end of Seattle and moving to the 'no assigned seats' model to make sure everyone knows how little they matter to the company. No longer allowed more than one monitor, and not allowed to leave a keyboard or mouse or family photos on your desk overnight.
What do you mean by no assigned seats? Is it like the policy on Southwest airlines? First come first serve? How will a team sit together then?
Just like Southwest. Each Division (250+ ppl) is giving a wing of the new campus, but if you want to sit with your actual team, better cross your fingers
That’s not true. In my org they have chunks of flex seating assigned out at the Director or Sr Dir level so teams can sit together.
Move, No! (well I'm not), re org, TBD
