obviously the LinkedIn offer, unless you're drunk on kool-aid in the Blind echo chamber

Infosys BRY47 Oct 5, 2019

FAAG is life man. Also, did Netflix ban Blind or something? I don’t think I’ve seen anyone from there on here.

Go for LinkedIn, I don’t want to see another thread “should I quit google”

Why would u want a "cloud security" role

Uber MSnm42 OP Oct 5, 2019

Not familiar with cloud security, can you explain why not?

What’s the TC for each?

Around 320k

If you want a career in security the GCP role is better. If you want to Lean more towards data analytics and AI, then LinkedIn is better. All up to which opportunity contributes more to your long term goal

If you are a tech guy, then please not Cloud Security.

Uber MSnm42 OP Oct 5, 2019

Why?

Microsoft micrusade1 Oct 5, 2019

You work for enterprise customers, and there is no choice of technology you get to work on, if there is a customer need, you work on the stuff you are allotted to, no complaining. This is same for every service based division of any firm be it Microsoft, Amazon or Google.

Salesforce aw3some Oct 5, 2019

Google. You can always move internally. Linkedin is all right. Their hiring bar isn't as high as Google tho.

Google Metrics Oct 5, 2019

Inflated hiring bar is overrated.

Microsoft micrusade1 Oct 5, 2019

@aw3some Nope, if you are working in consulting/services part of any firm like Google in this case (Cloud Security), then nope. You are as equal as an external candidate for engineering managers, also too many employees from this division try to flock to engineering teams. Plus, you learn and work on too many useless technologies, which you won't be working on as an SWE/SRE in any firm (specially if OP shifts outside Google in this case)

parking situation sucks at LinkedIn , I would go to Google
