    OP,
Don't feel bad about earning under 50k.

This IS a monopoly game, but only played by SWEs. So if you're not that, then Blind as a salary tool is a lot less valuable.

Salaries in the Bay Area are higher but cost of living is stupid ridiculous. Your 50k in your area could very well be 200k here. Seriously.

If you want to make the ๐Ÿ’ฐ you're reading here on Blind, then study to become an SWE and move to the Bay, b/c 95% of what you read here is SWE talk and they're in their own exclusive tier (the equivalent would be visiting an investment banker/hedge fund board where their talk about money would be even more ridiculous!). Plus, understand that SWEs here on Blind are elite. They work for the best companies and have elite education and experience. But leetcode is the great equalizer. If you get good at it, then the ๐ŸŒŽ is yours! ๐Ÿ‘

      This is good peptalk.

One thing, don't stoke the egos on blind. We're not that elite, just elitist. You can do just as well if not better than all us time wasters here.

I'm around where you are, OP, though I'm a back office guy and not an engineer. Still, I'm aiming higher when I move back to NYC. I hope you find something better paying!

LC and just applying for jobs. 2 YOE in DA not likely valid for any swe position. Take an entry level job

Depends on location but yes. I only know west coast wages. Demand at least 110k. That's avg entry level salary. You're worth it.

Brush up on cs fundamentals online or with cracking the coding interview book. Then pay leetcode 35 bucks and solve questions starting from high frequency. And then apply for jobs, especially ones you know names of but also apply to smaller companies for interview practice. If you did everything right, you should be getting at least 150k but hopefully more.
