I’m looking around for a new job and I want to ensure I am landing on a solid team with a great manager and good WLB. What are your go-to questions to evaluate prospective managers and teams?
First of all you are day dreaming.. solid team with great manager and good WLB.. where do you find such companies. Disneyland? Second, TC?
Disney laid off all their engineers to replace them with foreign workers
I would prefer white American national for my manager(3rd generation or higher). Definitely not an immigrant... They value family life and wlb better than other ppl according to my experience..

First, I judge them heavily on hiring practices to start. A good manager will help the process go smoothly and make the candidate feel at ease. Next I judge them based on their interview questions. If the questions are stupid I know the hiring manager is stupid. Finally I try to asses culture fit with the manager, or would I enjoy working with them. That’s it!
What is considered a “stupid question” to you?
Homework assignments or leetcode problems (and other trivia) mainly. But that’s just me- everyone should have their own. I don’t live in California or interview for FAANG...
