I'm a senior front end engineer and have primarily worked in the digital agency environment for most of my professional career. I'm over it and looking To move into more Tech driven companies. The recruiter I'm working with has me primarily interviewing with fintech focused roles for a few well backed startups. It's kind of an interesting sector to me Because in a previous life I spent a significant amount of time trading the markets and the UI/UX aspect of the platforms that I've used was always something that was intriguing to me. ButI've heard SWE roles in fintech are a painful and life draining existence. Any insight? TC: 100K
One persons pain is another persons pleasure. Can you elaborate?
To be honest I wish I could. I guess the anecdotal references I've heard were things like bad top down management, low pay, long hours, no WLB, etc. And if that is the case doesn't seem like it's too far off from any of the small to mid size agencies I've worked for.
That sounds more like a traditional bank not fintech. Also don’t conflate what you’re hearing here, especially from FAANG fan boys. See WeWork Uber, et al.
