Forced to attend mandatory half day training about pronouns or how calling someone a hacker became a terrible thing. is it acceptable? comment below more here https://open.buffer.com/inclusive-language-tech/
“Communication is not what you say, but how it’s heard.” sums it up pretty nicely
It's both. People who focus only on what they meant are insensitive at best, intentional trolls at worst People who only focus on what they heard and assumed is meant are snowflakes at best, professional whingers at worst
Sure but right now the language is only about what is intended not about what was received. This issue definitely deserves more understanding. Why is language gendered in the first place? "We judge others by their actions and ourselves by our intentions." is another variation.
On general principle, inclusive language is a good thing. Mandatory inclusive language training goes wayyyyy too far
See... This is where communism is light-years ahead of USA.. you refer to anyone as "tovarasi".. dabai! Equality by design. They should just start using comerad.
Cheers comrade
You were paid to go, so what’s the big deal?
The premise? You attend the meeting and can now be fired for being insensitive?
Yeah shit up you slave! You should do whatever you’re paid to do!
Point of personal privilege, can we not use the term engineers as that implies gender due to the soft e in eers.
I disagree with this approach in D&I. Policing language is not the solution, but spreading awareness is part of it.
I disagree with treating people like fragile glass. If you get offended because of being called guys, ladies, or people, you’re too fragile to be out in public and belong in a mental ward.
I think that's fair. All people regardless of their identity should have the opportunity to thrive, but people shouldn't be forced to abide by a certain societal norm
I hate using the word "folks".
Same here at Pinterest
WTF? How do they find people to go along with this BS who are also functioning humans?
“Rule of acquisition #98: Every man has his price.”
Forget it, Jake.... this is HR.
